The right action for every pack

A reject conveyor is only effective when the failed product is positively removed.

Oxford Vision Systems designs reject handling as part of the inspection process—not as an afterthought. We consider product behaviour, conveyor speed, rejection distance, accumulation, guarding, access and the response to a fault.

The result is a practical system that protects good production, contains rejects securely and gives operators clear evidence that the correct pack was removed.

Closed-loop rejection

Know that the failed product has left the line.

An output signal alone does not prove successful rejection. A verified system tracks the suspect pack through every critical stage.

Reject signal received and product tracked

  2. 02

Reject device actuated within the validated window

  3. 03

Independent sensor confirms product entered the bin

  4. 04

Full-bin and bin-present status continuously monitored

  5. 05

Line stop or alarm raised if rejection is not confirmed

!

Fail-safe response Alarm, controlled line stop or production lockout can be configured around your risk assessment and user-requirement specification.

LOCK

Lockable reject bins

Secure failed product from unauthorised removal or reintroduction.

BIN

Bin-present sensing

Prevent production when the reject container is missing or incorrectly fitted.

FULL

Full-bin detection

Warn operators before capacity is exceeded and the reject route is compromised.

VERIFY

Independent confirmation

Confirm each failed product has entered the controlled reject area.

Built around your environment

Reject stations for demanding production sectors.

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers before you specify a reject conveyor.

Have a different question? Speak directly with an engineer about your product and inspection line.

Call 01865 416657 →
Which reject mechanism is best for my product?+

The correct mechanism depends on pack weight, stability, line speed, conveyor width, space and the reason for rejection. We review the complete application before recommending a pusher, air blast, drop flap, retracting belt or diverter.

Can a reject conveyor connect to an existing inspection system?+

Yes. Systems can interface with vision inspection, checkweighing, metal detection, X-ray, barcode verification and other line controls.

What does reject verification do?+

An independent sensor confirms that the identified failed product physically left the accepted-product flow. A missing confirmation can raise an alarm or stop the line.

Are food-grade stainless-steel conveyors available?+

Yes. Stainless-steel frames, hygienic materials and cleanable designs can be specified around the product, environment and cleaning regime.

Can pharmaceutical reject stations use lockable bins?+

Yes. Lockable or tamper-resistant bins can be combined with bin-present, access-open and full-bin monitoring.

How does a conveyor reject system remove the correct product?

Define how the failed product is identified and tracked from the inspection point to removal. Include pack spacing, conveyor speed changes and the reject destination. Challenge the sequence with consecutive failures, missing products and a full reject container, then agree confirmation, alarms and recovery before accepting the system.

What should a reject-conveyor design do after a pack is diverted?

Define where rejected packs go, how they are kept separate and how the production team reviews them. Include pack weight, stability and the expected reject rate. Agree the response to a full collection area or failed transfer so rejected product cannot silently return to the accepted-product flow.
