Positive side-ejection

Pneumatic pusher reject conveyors

Fast, controlled and dependable rejection for rigid packs on automated production lines.

Application engineering

Reliable rejection begins with the product.

Pneumatic pusher rejects are a proven choice where a bottle, jar, carton, tub or other stable pack must be moved positively from the main conveyor into a secure reject area. The pusher is triggered from the inspection system, actuates within a controlled timing window and returns clear of the following product.

Oxford Vision Systems engineers the complete reject station around product width, mass, centre of gravity, line speed and spacing. We also consider conveyor friction, side guides, the distance to the reject bin and the risk of a rejected item bouncing back into the accepted-product stream.

Designed as a complete verified reject station

A pusher cylinder alone does not provide reject assurance. The product must be tracked from the failed inspection result to the reject point, then independently confirmed as it enters the controlled reject area. Where required, bin-present, door-open and full-bin sensors can be incorporated into the line permissives.

Pushers can be supplied on new stainless-steel conveyors or integrated with suitable existing equipment. Guarding, pneumatic isolation, controls and the agreed alarm or line-stop response are defined during the technical review.

Typical applications

  • Bottles and jars
  • Cartons and cases
  • Rigid tubs and trays
  • Moderate to high line speeds
  • Vision, weight, X-ray and code failures
