A vision inspection reject system receives a pass/fail or classification result from the camera system, tracks the inspected item and actuates the correct reject device or lane route. It can remove label, print, barcode, cap, fill-level, assembly, presence and packaging failures, with independent verification where required.
Application engineering
How does machine vision control a reject conveyor?
The vision system makes the inspection decision; the conveyor controls maintain product identity between the camera and reject point. Photoelectric sensors, encoders and PLC logic establish the timing window so that the failed item—not the pack before or after it—is acted on.
The reject mechanism is selected to protect both the product and line performance. Air blast can suit small, light items; a pusher gives positive side movement for stable packs; drop-flap and retracting-belt systems provide a downward path; and diverters can route classified products into separate lanes.
Oxford Vision Systems can integrate inspection, rejection and fail-safe monitoring as a coordinated station. This includes reject confirmation, full-bin and bin-present sensing, guarding interlocks and clear fault handling for new or existing lines.

Key application considerations
- Label and artwork fault rejection
- OCR, OCV and barcode decision handling
- Cap, component and presence checks
- Fill-level and package-integrity routing
- PLC and encoder product tracking
- Verified reject and bin monitoring
